Chalet La Fresque

Ski-in, ski-out on the slopes of Rochebrune and just 1.2 km from the centre of Megève, Chalet La Fresque enjoys a setting as rare as its architecture. Built in 1934 by Henri-Jacques Le Même, a leading figure of modern Alpine architecture and one of Megève’s most emblematic architects, the chalet was originally designed for the painter Georges Gimel.

From the very first glance, La Fresque is unlike any traditional Alpine chalet. Its modernist lines, bold volumes and large studio-style windows give it an unmistakable silhouette in the mountain landscape. A true piece of architecture, conceived almost a century ago and retaining all of its original character today.

Completely renovated in 2026, La Fresque now combines this remarkable architectural heritage with the comfort of a contemporary private home. It offers four bedrooms and four bathrooms, with an intimate atmosphere designed for time spent with family and friends. The house’s artistic origins can still be felt inside: two of the four bedrooms retain the feel of genuine artists’ studios, with large, small-paned windows flooding the rooms with natural light and lending them a character rarely found in a mountain home.

The top floor is the heart of the house. Set beneath the exposed roof structure, a beautiful living space with generous volumes is centred around the fireplace. Large south-facing picture windows open the house to the landscape, with magnificent views across Rochebrune and the Mont Blanc massif.

La Fresque is not simply "another" chalet in Megève. It is an architect-designed home in its own right, born from the meeting of one of the defining figures of Megève’s architectural history and an artist, then reimagined almost a century later for a new generation to live in and enjoy.
